Three die in Donegal tragedy



A man and two children have died after a road left the road and entered the water in Co. Donegal.

The incident happened at around 10.20pm last night near Quigley’s Point in Innishowen.

They were travelling from Muff towards Quigley’s Point when the driver lost control of the vehicle which skidded across the road and down the embankment and plunged into the water.

The 49 year old man who was driving and two children, a boy aged 14 and a girl aged 6 died at the scene.

A 45 year old woman who was in the front passenger seat managed to exit the car and sought help.

The man and two childrens bodies were removed to Letterkenny University Hospital and postmortems are due to take place.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was travelling on the road from Muff towards Quigleys Point between 10pm and 10.30pm last night or anyone who was may have had sighting of a Black Mitsubishi ASX registration number, 11 DL 1566 in the area, particularly any road users with dash cam footage, to contact Buncrana Garda Station on (074) 9320540,
