A woman was airlifted by Coast Guard helicopter to Sligo University Hospital yesterday afternoon after she fell from the coastal cliffs at Mullaghmore Head in north Sligo.
The woman was found unconscious at the bottom of the cliffs by passers-by who immediately contacted the Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard immediately called Bundoran RNLI Lifeboat and the Strandhill, Co. Sligo-based Rescue 118 helicopter.
The woman was first treated at the scene by ambulance and helicopter crew. An advanced paramedic member of the lifeboat crew also went ashore to help.
Afterward, Bundoran RNLI Lifeboat crew member Rory O Connor said the woman was lucky she was spotted and that the alert was raised so quickly.
He reminded people who see anyone in trouble along the coast to call 999 or 112 and ask for the Coast Guard.
