With the recent good weather and more people ‘staycationing,’ there’s been an increasing in littering and dumping in many scenic and amenity areas.
Now, a Sligo county councillor is calling on people to download the ‘See It Say It’ app that enables local authorities to locate and deal with such incidents using GPS coordinates.
A photo and details of dumping, littering or pollution can be uploaded onto the app.
And although campervans and caravans have been in the news in recent days regarding parking, Sligo Independent Councillor Marie Casserly stressed they are not to blame for dumping or littering; she says they are particularly sensitive about not leaving rubbish behind.
However, Cllr Casserly says she has received numerous complaints in recent days about dumping and environmental pollution.
