Sligo Rovers up to eighth after Shelbourne win

Sligo Rovers secured their second successive SSE Airtricity League Premier Division win with a 2-1 success over Shelbourne at The Showgrounds on Saturday.

The Bit O’Red were in front inside the opening thirty seconds when Jesse Devers opened the scoring.

They doubled their advantage when David Cawley finished from a Regan Donelon corner kick shortly after half-time, and though the visitors netted a late goal through Gary Deegan, Rovers collected all three points.

Boss Liam Buckley offered his post-match thoughts to Jessica Farry after the game:

Rovers next assignment is away to Cork City next Friday at Turner’s Cross.

They are now above both next week’s opponents and Finn Harps in the table. Ollie Horgan’s Harps were beaten by St Patrick’s Athletic on Friday night by 2-0, with Donegal native Georgie Kelly netting both goals at Richmond Park.
