New water safety website launched

A newly updated water safety website has just been launched to help prevent an average of 10 people per month from drowning.

safetyonthewater.gov.ie is a collaboration between a number of groups, including the Coast Guard, RNLI and Irish Sailing.

Over the past ten years, 1,200 people have died by drowning.

Killian O’ Kelly runs the Irish Gap Year Surf School and is also a member of the Bundoran RNLI.

He’s encouraging as many as possible to log on to the new web site before hitting the water over the weekend.
