Donegal councillor, hotel manager welcomes staycation refund scheme

A Donegal hotel manager is welcoming proposals for staycation vouchers to encourage people to remain in Ireland for their holidays.

The vouchers or subsidies are expected to be available from September in the form of a tax rebate.

Sinn Fein has said if this happens, it’s useless for families who will have children back in school from September.

But Donegal Fianna Fail Councillor Micheal Naughton, who is group manager at The Clanree Hotel in Letterkenny, says he does not see this as a problem, adding that the vouchers will be welcomed by those in the industry.
