Promoters of new Irish language pre-school in Manorhamilton need just four more pupils

Efforts are underway to set up an Irish language pre-school in north Leitrim.

And if the promoters of the project can get just four more pupils, there’s a chance it could open in Manorhamilton in September.

There are already two such preschools in Carrick on Shannon and one in Ballinamore.

But the proposed preschool in Manorhamilton, Naíonra Chluainín, would be the first in the north of the county.

Before the end of this month, the school foundation committee will be making a submission to Manorhamilton Childcare Services Board, which will assess the viability of such a service.

Rossa O Snodaigh is one of those involved in the project.
