A Donegal-based activist will make history at the National Convention Centre in Dublin today when she becomes the first female traveller to sit in the Seanad.
Eileen Flynn, who currently lives in Ardara, grew up on a Traveller site in Ballyfermot in Dublin.
She is one of the Taoiseach’s 11 appointments to the Seanad.
Donegal independent TD Thomas Pringle nominated her for the Seanad elections earlier this year.
