Sligo Rovers return to training

Sligo Rovers returned to collective training on Saturday morning as negotiations between the League of Ireland clubs and the FAI continued to try and restart the League of Ireland season.

Saturday’s session was attended by locally-based squad members – as a couple of Rovers international signings have still to return from overseas.

Talks on a league resumption have made some progress in recent days with a potential return date of July 31st being mooted – but there remain a number of outstanding issues for some clubs to be resolved – particularly around promotion and relegation this season.

Late on Thursday night, the FAI confirmed that their board and the National League Executive Committee would decide the format for promotion and relegation if the 19 clubs in the Premier and First Division couldn’t reach agreement.
