Harkin questions logic in upgrading Sligo Garda Station

The recent u-turn on building the proposed new Garda station at Caltra and instead upgrading the existing station on Pearse Road has been described ‘as a waste of money’ and an effort to ‘downgrade policing in Sligo’ by Deputy Marian Harkin.

The Sligo Leitrim TD recently rose the matter in the Dáil with Minister Pascal Donohoe.

Speaking to Ocean FM news Deputy Harkin says there would be better value for money in building a new station at Caltra rather than attempting to upgrade the facility on the Pearse Road which she described as ‘unfit for purpose’
