GAA Cúl Camp website crashes

Online registration for this summer’s Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps was temporarily halted after the official website crashed on Monday because of the numbers of people attempting to log on.

National GAA Cúl Camp co-ordinator and former Sligo footballer Charlie Harrison told RTÉ radio that demand for new online registration was so high that the website went down. It’s hoped that it be operational again by Wednesday.

Applicants who registered for Cúl Camps pre-covid are still able to access the website as priority bookings. But new applications can’t be made while Croke Park carries out improvements to the website.

The Cúl Camps, which are a week-long football camp for girls and boys aged 6-13 years have proved hugely popular around the country.

Since 2006, almost 1,400,000 children have taken part in the Cúl Camps, including 156,000 participants last year.

The Covid pandemic has prompted some clubs around the country not to hold Cúl Camps this year.

Leitrim GAA has opted not to organise or run camps this summer, although individual clubs in the county are still free to hold their own Cúl Camp.

The decision to go ahead with the camps this year came conjunction with the Safe Return to Gaelic Games Document and the easing of restrictions brought into place due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The 2020 camps will be preceded by GAA Cúl Camp TV which will air on TG4 from from next Monday, June 29th, until until Friday, July 17th.

This year’s camps are scheduled to begin nationwide from July 20th.
