Plans to construct new Sligo Garda Station shelved by Garda Commissioner



The prospect of the proposed new Garda Station at Caltragh in Sligo going ahead now seems highly unlikely.

 

 

The Minister for Justice and Equality Charlie Flanagan confirmed yesterday evening in the Dáil that plans to construct the new station have been shelved by the Garda commissioner Drew Harris.

 

 

Minister Flanagan was responding to a Parliamentary question which was posed by his party College, Sligo Leitrim TD Frank Feighan.

 

 

 

In response to the question, Minister Flanagan confirmed that the Garda commissioner’s preference is for further upgrade works to continue at the existing Garda Station on Pearse Road as opposed to constructing the new station in Caltragh.
