Strong Garda presence expected on Donegal beaches

Gardai in Ballyshannon have confirmed that they will be patrolling beaches in Donegal over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Gardai have also confirmed that the beaches will be closed for traffic and there will be a strong garda presence on all beaches in the Ballyshannon district during the June Bank Holiday Weekend.

A red forest fire warning has also been issued for the bank holiday weekend – the most extreme warning level.

It follows high temperatures this week, which are set to continue over the next few days.

People are being urged not to light fires or barbecues on forest lands and other high risk areas.
