Plebiscite delay damaging Enniscrone



The tourism potential of Enniscrone is being damaged by the failure to hold a plebiscite which will is required to decide on how the place name of the town should be officially spelt.

 

Any successful outcome is being held up to conflicting views between the Department of Housing and planning and the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht.

 

Sligo Leitrim TD Frank Feighan has raised the matter in the Dáil with The Minister of state for local government, John Paul Phelan.

Deputy Phelan says it’s important that the issue is resolved:

 

 

 

In response, the Minister of state for local government John Paul Phelan  in response says there is a ‘conflict in legalisation’ which is leading to the continued delay
