GAA postpones start of championship

The GAA has announced that the start of the 2020 football and hurling championships is being postponed because of the current coronavirus pandemic.

The senior inter-county championships, scheduled to begin in May, have postponed until further clarity on the current situation is available.

This directly affects the opening matches for Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo, all of whom were due to play their opening provincial championship games during the month of May.

The GAA had already called off the two preliminary round games in Connacht, scheduled for May the 3rd – New York v Galway and London v Roscommon.

It is the Association’s view that it is highly unlikely these will be rescheduled any time before the beginning of July, at the earliest.
