Limbo workers still not receiving Covid assistance

Despite being four weeks into the various restrictions to halt the spread of Covid-19, a substantial number of people that are working in the Republic of Ireland and living in Northern Ireland  are still not receiving the COVID-19 Pandemic Unemployment payment.

The Issue has been raised by Sligo Leitrim TD Marc MacSharry.

Deputy MacSharry says there is a major issue emerging for many Irish citizens who work in Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, who pay their taxes to Revenue in the South, but are finding their pandemic unemployment payment applications being turned down because they reside in Northern Ireland.

The Sligo based TD added that the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection need to clarify whether special arrangements have been put in place with the Northern Ireland Social Security Agency to pay the €350 payment to Southern workers living in Northern Ireland.
