Some Credit unions to close but EBS staying open



A number of restrictions due to Covid-19 are coming into affect Sligo’s Credit unions.

Collooney and Dromahair will be closed from Friday the 20th of March for the foreseeable future.

No new members can apply for membership during this time and all loans will be handled by phone or email.

The Credit Union in Sligo Town is also closing an hour earlier from Wednesday, they will now close at 4pm on Wednesday, 4.30pm on Thursday and Friday and 1.30pm on Saturdays.

Speaking to Ocean FM News, CEO of Sligo Credit Union, Barry O’Flynn, explains the reasoning.

Meanwhile the head of the EBS in Sligo Town has confirmed that all EBS stores will stay open and operate as normal.

Roger Cawley, who manages the banking facility in Sligo spoke to Ocean FM News and says “that every effort to stay open is being made and all financial institutions are to operate to the same model.”
