Cameras being deployed in Sligo to combat illegal dumping

A number of cameras are now in operation at locations in County Sligo as part of the effort to clamp down on littering and illegal dumping.

Recently, there was littering and illegal dumping of items at bottle banks in Collooney and Ballintogher, as well as dumping at Union Wood.

Fine Gael Councillor Thomas Walsh has praised the environment section of Sligo County Council for its efforts to clamp down on the dumping.

And he says cameras will now catch people in the act.
