Coronavirus: Go-ahead for St Patrick’s Day Parades will be determined by HSE guidelines



The organisers of the St Patrick’s Day Parade in Sligo say they are waiting for direction from the HSE in relation to the staging of the event for this year.

The future of a number of major events has been called into question due to fears over the coronavirus.

Committees all over the country are waiting for HSE guidance on making decisions about events going ahead, as authorities strive to contain the spread of the virus.

2020 will mark the 50th anniversary of the Sligo St Patrick’s day parade.

Committee chairman Finbarr Filan says they are currently waiting from further guidance from HSE.
