Doherty hits out at decision not to hold another Dail vote for taoiseach



Donegal Sinn Fein TD Pearse Doherty has hit out at the Dail committee’s decision not to hold another vote in the effort to select a taoiseach.

Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil will meet next week for a day of policy talks despite Leo Varadkar saying he still plans to head into opposition.

The Fine Gael leader said he doesn’t see a basis to appoint negotiators but that his party will have policy talks with Fianna Fáil and the Greens next week.

It’s a significant move in the slow-paced talks to form the next government.

Earlier the Dáil’s business committee decided not to hold votes next week to elect a new Taoiseach.
