North West motorists face difficult driving conditions.



Gardai are urging motorists to proceed with caution on many roads across the counties of Donegal, Sligo and Leitrim this morning.

 

A status yellow rainfall warning will remain in place until eight o’clock this morning.

 

Up to 25 millimetres of rain could fall  in parts of the region.

 

Snow has also fallen over night in parts of Connacht and Ulster.

 

Surface water is reported on a number of secondary roads in particular.

 

The Barnesmore Gap is almost impassable and motorists are advised to expect long delays due a truck partially blocking the road

 

The Tullaghan to Kinlough road is also believed to be dangerous.
