Sligo senior footballers suffered their first defeat in Division 4 of the Allianz Football League when they were beaten by Wicklow at windy Aughrim by 1-15 to 1-10.

Sligo played into a gale force wind in the opening half but battled commendably with Seán Carrabine finding the net in the opening 35 minutes. They actually led by two points at one stage but Wicklow finished the half stronger to lead by 1-10 to 1-5.
With a strong wind at their backs in the second half, Sligo chased the game – but Wicklow upped their game too.
There was a golden goal chance for David Quinn in the second half but his effort went wide.
Wicklow finished with late points into the breeze to win by five points.
