The former Junior Minister John Perry (Ind) has been eliminated from the Sligo-Leitrim count following Count 7.
Perry’s 1,464 votes are now being distrbuted amongst the remaining candidates.
Perry had served as a TD for 19 years (1997 to 2016) and served as Minister for Small Business from from 2011 to 2014.
Earlier, Labour’s Nessa Cosgrove – a first-time candidate – was eliminated.
Counting has been underway since shortly after 9am this morning.
To date, Sinn Féin’s Martin Kenny is the sole candidate to have been elected.
