Donegal – Pat ‘The Cope’ Gallagher (FF) loses seat

Fianna Fail’s Pat ‘The Cope’ Gallagher has lost his seat in the Donegal Constituency

The 9th and final count took place in the Aura Centre, Letterkenny where OceanFM were broadcasting live.

It was a battle with four sitting TD’s fighting over three seats.

Fine Gael’s Joe McHugh, Fianna Fail’s Charlie McConalogue and Independent Thomas Pringle have retained their seats and join Sinn Fein’s Pearse Doherty and newcomer Padraig MacLochlainn in the 33rd Dail.

He will remain as Leas Cheann Comhairle until February 20th

It was too close to call final seats as the gap between the candidates was only a few hundred votes.

Speaking after the announcement, Pat ‘The Cope’ Gallagher thanked all those who supported him
