Doherty hits out at lack of resources, cars for Donegal gardai

The lack of resources available to gardaí in County Donegal has been branded “a disgrace” by a Donegal General Election candidate.

Sinn Féin TD Pearse Doherty made the comments after it emerged that Carrick Garda Station has been left without a Garda car since September while Killybegs Garda Station has also now been left without a Garda car due to the attached patrol car to that station having broken down in recent weeks.

Speaking to Ocean FM, Deputy Doherty say’s It’s a disgrace that such a large, rural area of Donegal, stretching from Inver to Glencolmcille — previously was served by two Garda cars — has now been left without any Garda car.

Deputy Doherty say’s it’s completely unacceptable that with 93 fewer Guards operating in the county compared to previously, Garda stations in the county have been forced to borrow and share Garda cars, which is another blow when it comes to fighting crime in Donegal
