NCT tests that involve car underside inspections postponed



A Sligo/Leitrim TD and the Fianna Fail spokesman on Transport says consideration should be given to suspending all NCT tests until an issue with lifts is resolved.

Marc MacSharry, a general election candidate, says this is the approach that has been taken in Northern Ireland.

Part of NCT tests that involve inspection of the underside of vehicles has now been postponed.

But Deputy MacSharry says this is costing people money and causing inconvenience.

Drivers won’t be provided with a full NCT certificate until an audit of the lifts is complete, which could take weeks.
