Sligo County Council is to investigate the need for wall and pier protection works on Coney Island.
Independent Socialist Councillor Declan Bree told a meeting of councillors from the Sligo Borough District that the county council had done works on the island, including dune fencing.
But he said more dune fencing was required as well as pier protection works.
Council Director of Services Tom Kilfeather said the structures and marine section of the council will be asked to investigate proposed protection works and if grant aid might be available for them.
