Disappointment over lack of funding for Finn Harps stadium

A Donegal TD is calling on the Minister for Sport to meet with him and a delegation from Finn Harps Football Club over future funding for the next phase of a stadium at the club.

It follows the club not being included in a government funding announcement made this morning (Friday).

Fianna Fail TD Pat the Cope Gallagher says he is deeply disappointed.

He says that last year, an allocation of €304,000 was allocated to prepare the project for substantial works this year, for which major capital funding was expected.

He said the money had been approved by the Department of Sport under Sports Capital Funding and was for hiring a design team and to prepare a Bill of Quantities for Phase One of the project.

Deputy Gallagher says the €6.7m stadium project is now left in limbo, and that there is concern  works already started will deteriorate and crumple on the site due to being left in an unfinished state.
