McHugh welcomes efforts to upskill teachers

Education Minister and Donegal TD Joe McHugh is welcoming a call for universities and colleges to provide new programmes and courses to upskill post-primary teachers.

The Higher Education Authority says there’s a need for more teachers to teach subjects such as mathematics, Spanish and physics.

Teachers doing the new courses would not have to pay fees.

Minister McHugh says the move to start the new programmes and courses is in response to the concerns of post-primary schools and management bodies.
