A total of €37,000 has been awarded for animal welfare in Sligo and Leitrim.
€20,000 is to go to three animal welfare organisations in Sligo made up of €14,000 to Sathya Sai Sanctuary Trust in Castlebaldwin, €3,000 to Little Wings Bird Sanctuary at Delchristy Cottage in Banada, and €3,000 to Precious Paws Dog Rescue in Cuilmore, Gurteen.
Meanwhile, €17,000 has been awarded to Leitrim Animal Welfare Centre in Barraghmore, Drumkeeran and €10,000 for Fairyglen Community Animal Sanctuary in Greaghnafarna Mor in Arigna.
Making the announcement, Sligo/Leitrim, North Roscommon, South Donegal General Election candidate Senator Freank Feighan says the money will help staff and volunteers at these organisations continue their excellent work.
