With Sligo-Strandhill now a rent pressure zone, bishop says development must be about more than building houses

The Catholic bishop of the Diocese of Elphin says developing other regions in an effort to offset the growth of Dublin must be about more than building houses.

It follows the Sligo-Strandhill electoral area having been designated as one of four new Rent Pressure Zones, where rent increases will now be limited to 4% for a maximum of three years.

Bishop Kevin Doran says that with the growth of his native Dublin, there must be, what he called, ‘intelligent planning’ of the west.
