Sligo Leitrim TD’s call on Transport Minister to progress much needed safety works along section of N4

Sligo Leitrim TD’s are calling on the Transport Minister to progress safety works along a section of the N4 as a matter of urgency.

Fianna Fail’s Eamon Scanlon and Marc MacSharry along with Roscommon/Galway TD, Eugene Murphy, met with Minister Shane Ross in a dedicated Dail session this week.

The TD’s are calling on the Minister to make sure works are carried out as soon as possible along the main Dublin route at the turn offs of the L1015 and the L1024.

TD Marc MacSharry says that funds have already been allocatted for the planned works and questions why they have not progressed.

The Donegal Regional Design Office carry out the design for such plans on behalf of Transport Infrastructure Ireland.

Deputy Scanlon says people are ‘taking their lives in their hands’ along the section.

While Deputy Murphy was under the impression that the works were to be completed by the end of this year.

Minister Ross claims that the responsibility falls on Roscommon County Council.

TD MacSharry says it’s an ‘administrative merry go round.’

Minister Ross finished stating all he can do is raise the issue with the relevant authorities.
