Sligo GAA Convention POSTPONED

Sligo GAA’s Annual Convention, which was scheduled to take place in the Clayton Hotel this Thursday night, has been postponed, following a Connacht Council appeals hearing on Monday night.

The appeal was made by two of the current county board officers, Gerry O’Connor (Connacht Council delegate) and John McPartland Snr (Coaching Officer), whose names were not on the list of nominations for the 2019 Convention.

It’s understood the appeal arose following some confusion around the deadlines and protocols for receipt of officer nominations for this year’s Convention.

It’s now emerged that following Monday night’s hearing, Mr O’Connor’s nominations for the positions of Treasurer and Connacht Council Delegate have been ruled to be in order.

Following that hearing, Sligo GAA has confirmed that Convention has been provisionally rescheduled for next Tuesday, December 17th.
