Gardai release man from custody following Sligo man’s death in Galway



The man who was arrested for alleged assault of Sligo man Charles Townsend in Galway last weekend has been released from garda custody without charge.

The alleged assault occurred at a house in Ballinahown in Connemara, Co Galway, shortly after 9am on Sunday morning.

It is reported that the post mortem results revealed a heart condition contributed to Mr. Townsend’s death.

Mr Townsend had been taken to University Hospital Galway after the incident, where he later died.

Gardai say they are following a definite line of inquiry.
