Sligo under 16 footballers retained the Fr Manning Cup title for 2019 after Saturday’s 1-11 to 1-5 win against Laois at Glennon Pearse Park in Longford.
Brian Byrne’s goal for Sligo in the closing quarter proved to the key score as Sligo ran out six-point winners.
Sligo had beaten Leitrim, Meath, Armagh and Offaly en route to the final.
The Fr Manning Cup is Ireland’s longest-running under 16 intercounty football competition, having begun in Longford in the early 1950s.

Saturday’s win completed back-to-back Manning Cup successes for Sligo – they beat Wicklow in the 2018 final.
