Office of Public Works to consider new Garda Station in Tubbercurry

The Minister for Justice has confirmed that Garda management has asked the Office of Public Works to consider acquiring a suitable property in the Tubbercurry area of South Sligo for use as a new Garda station.

The current Garda station building is no longer suitable, either for the number of Garda stationed there or for the carrying out Garda business.

Local politicians have called for a nearby building which had been used in the past as government offices to be acquired for a Garda station.

Fine Gael Councillor Dara Mulvey has welcomed the support of the Justice Minister in the effort to get modern, suitable accommodation for Gardai in Tubbercurry.
