Trolley figures: Sligo hospital already exceeds 2018 figure



Letterkenny University Hospital is set to break the 2018 record for the number of people on trolleys and wards across the hospital for 2019.

So far this year, Letterkenny has had 4,856 people in its emergency department and other wards waiting for a bed; the 2018 figure was 5,174.

Sligo University Hospital has already exceeded the 2018 figure of 4,183 as there already has been 4,356 people waiting on trolleys this year so far.

Today, Letterkenny University Hospitals ranks 4th worst in the country with 41 patients waiting for a bed; 12 are waiting  in ED and 29 on other wards.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation has reported that Sligo University Hospital has 25 patients without a bed today, with 16 in the emergency department and 9 on trolleys throughout the hospital.
