Work on a project to alleviate longtime flooding in a Sligo town housing estate is expected to be completed in about a month.
It’s in The Woodlands Estate in Ballytivnan where, in the past, residents had to be taken from a nursing home because of the flooding.
The work is being funded by €260,000 which Sligo County Council received some time ago from the Office of Public Works.
The issue has been discussed on a number of occasions at meetings of Sligo County Council as a result of motions from Independent Alliance Councillor Marie Casserly and Sinn Fein Councillor Thomas Healy.
