A Sligo councillor is calling for the extension of the Town and Village Renewal Scheme.
Fine Gael Councillor Thomas Walsh is making the call following the announcement yesterday of grants under the scheme to towns and villages throughout Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal.
He says the scheme plays a valuable role in supporting projects being undertaken by local communities.
Meanwhile, Sligo Independent Alliance Councillor Marie Casserly says the allocation of €100,000 under the scheme for various works, including refurbishment of toilets at Mullaghmore, is particularly welcome.
She pointed out that the toilets are closed in Mullaghmore, a seaside location that’s a leading attraction along the Wild Atlantic Way.
