Leitrim councillor renews call for National Park in north of county

A Leitrim councillor is renewing calls for a National Park to be built in North Leitrim.

Fianna Fail Councillor Justin Warnock proposed a similar motion two years ago and has now renewed calls in the face of Brexit, as he says the EU will be losing 15 national parks that are in the UK.

He tabled a motion at a recent meeting of Manorhamilton Municipal District calling for a review to be carried out, which was supported by Fianna Fail Councillor, Mary Bohan.

Councillor Warnock tells OceanFM News that he believes it would be of huge benefit to the region.
