Seamus Coleman sent off as Ireland lose 2-0 to Switzerland

Ireland captain Seamus Coleman was sent off in Tuesday night’s 2-0 loss to Switzerland in their Euro 2020 Group D qualifier, played in Geneva.

With Ireland trailing by a goal to nil in the 75th minute, The Killybegs man received a second yellow card after handling the ball in the penalty area.

The resultant penalty kick was saved by Ireland goalkeeper Darren Randolph, but a Shane Duffy own-goal deep in injury time made the game safe for Switzerland.

Ireland can still qualify for the Euro 2020 finals if they beat Denmark in their final qualifier in Dublin on November the 18th.

Coleman will be suspended for that match.
