Carbon tax – anothter attack on rural Ireland

This Week’s budget has been described as the most anti-rural budget in the history of the state and is another anti-rural declaration by the current government.

Thar’s according to Independent TD Michael Fitzmaurice.

The Roscommon east Galway TD says the government are growing more and detached from rural areas like Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal and are instead seeking to secure the ‘green urban vote’.

Deputy Fitzmaurice says introducing measures such as the carbon tax is effectively as a rural tax and will impact most on those living in the country that have no choice but to use their cars due to an inadequate public transport service available.
