Kilcar GAA club ground flooded

Kilcar’s GAA pitch in Towney has been badly flooded following Thursday night’s stormy weather.

The ground is situated on the shoreline of the Atlantic ocean – and a combination of high tides, high wind and heavy rain resulted in the club’s main pitch, training area and club car park being flooded.

Club officials waited for the waters to recede before accessing the ground facilities to assess the extent of the damage.

Kilcar GAA Chairperson John Carr gave this assessment to Ocean FM Sport:

The Kilcar senior football squad were due to gather in Towney on Friday night for a training session ahead of Sunday’s senior championship semi-final against Gweedore. The team have since made alternative arrangements.
