Donegal County Council to activate Severe Weather Assessment Team

Donegal County Council has activated its Severe Weather Assessment Team in response to Hurricane Lorenzo which is currently tracking its way across the Atlantic.

Council officials are continuing to monitor advice from the National Directorate for Fire and Emergency Management and weather forecasts from Met Éireann and are preparing contingency plans in that context.

Donegal County Council expect to issue further a statement this morning once the track of the storm and its likely extent becomes clearer.

Crisis management teams across the Country were put on standby last night, following a meeting of The National Emergency Co-Ordination Group.

High seas, strong winds and heavy rain are expected when the hurricane makes landfall as a powerful storm tomorrow.
