Now in it’s 7th year, the annual awards recognise the achievements of local businesses and reward them for their commitment to excellence and customer service

It’s taking place in the Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa in Sligo on October 4th, when the Overall Business of the Year Award will be announced along with 10 other category winners.

The rate of unemployment in September remained unchanged from August at 5.3 per cent.

This is down from a peak of 16 per cent at the start of 2012.

Seasonally adjusted figures show there were 126,000 people out of work in September – a fall of 600 in a month.

However youth unemployment remains high at 14.8 per cent.

New car registrations were up by 7 point 4 per cent in September when compared to the same month last year.

However, latest figures from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry show since the start of the year they are down 7.5 per cent.

There was a 20 per cent increase in the number of Imported Used Cars in September, and a 6 point 7 per cent increase in the year to date.

2,976 new electric vehicles have been registered so far this year.

While in the markets today, 1 euro is trading at 89p sterling at $1.09c
