Markievicz Park to re-open for club semi-finals on Sunday



Markievicz Park wll re-open for next Sunday’s Belfry Sligo senior football championship semi-final double-bill.

Sligo’s main county ground will host St Mary’s against Coolera/Strandhill at 2pm, followed by Shamrock Gaels against the holders at 4pm.

Both matches will be broadcast live on Ocean FM Sport in association with Oates Breheny Group, JFK Parade, Sligo.

Markievicz underent a €100,000 re-development over the last 12 months and the venue has been used sparingly while the new pitch surface beds in. So far in 2019, just three matches have been played at the venue to date: Sligo’s Connacht SFC game with Galway on May the 19th and Sligo minors subsquent Connacht ninor league games against Mayo and Roscommon during the summer.

However, the venue is set to stage the Sligo senior and intermediate football finals, as well as this weekend’s senior semi-finals.
