Irish Water have completed a number of assessments, upgrades and standardised disinfection systems at a number of water treatment plants in Co. Donegal.
Works were carried out, in conjunction with Donegal County Council, at 15 plants such as Lough Melvin, the River Eske, Frosses-Inver, Lough Mourne and at Pettigo.
The upgrades are part of Irish Water’s Disinfection Programme which has a national budget of €65m.
Martin Temple, Disinfection Programme Regional Lead with Irish Water says the works will improve the quality of drinking water in the areas.
