Closed Garda Stations in Rural Areas is Leading to an Increase in Crime

The closure of Garda stations in rural areas is leading to an increase in crime and is encouraging more to engage in criminal activities such as incidents that were witnessed in north Leitrim recently.

Drumkeerin Based Leitrim Councillor Mary Bohan has condemned recent incidents where eggs have been thrown at moving vehicles on the R 280 close to Tarmon Church.

The Fianna Fáil Councillor says the closure of rural Garda Stations in towns like Drumkeerin and Dromahair is obstructing Gardai in preventing crimes such as these and is putting members of the public at risk.
