Sligo Rovers beat UCD 4-0 to reach FAI Cup semi-finals



Sligo Rovers are through to the semi-finals of the 2019 extra.ie FAI Cup following Saturday night’s comprehensive 4-0 win against UCD at the Showgrounds.

Goals from Ronan Coughlan, David Cawley, Niall Watson and a Regan Donelon penalty booked Rovers place in the last four of the competition for the first time since 2013.

In front of a crowd of 1,927, Rovers bossed the game from the early stages. First half goals from Coughlan and Cawley gave Rovers some breathing space,

Donelon’s penalty in the second-half put the result beyond all doubt before Niall Watson added a fourth in the closing seconds of the game.

The students were without their two former Rovers players Jack Keaney and Liam Kerrigan for this game.

Sligo Rovers now join Shamrock Rovers in the semi-final draw. The remaining two quater-finals will be played over the next week: Waterford v Dundalk (Mon 9th) and Crumlin Utd v Bohemians (Mon 16th).

To date, Sligo Rovers have scored 18 goals in their three FAI Cup ties this season.
