Major funding boost for IT Sligo — new extension, rebuilt block on the way



IT Sligo is to get almost €6.6m for a major new building extension on its campus.

Meanwhile, as part of an ongoing project, there’s to be a complete rebuild of an old block at the college, with an investment of €18.58m, which will turn a single-floor 1970s building into a modern four-storey complex.

The €6.6m funding has been approved in principle to help support additional new student places at the IT, in line with its plans to increase numbers to 10,000 by 2022.

Education Minister and Donegal TD Joe McHugh says such significant funding would greatly help the higher level education sector in advancing the country’s national and regional ambitions.
